Meiden Facility Service Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Meidensha Corporation (Meiden), obtained the ISO 55001 certification, an international asset management system standard, on September 14. The Japan Audit and Certification Organization for Environment and Quality (JACO) presented a certificate to Meiden Facility Service during a ceremony held at Meiden’s headquarters in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, on September 27. JACO is a certification body for standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Meiden Facility Service is the first Meiden Group company to obtain the certification.

Meiden Facility Service obtained the certification as part of its ongoing asset management endeavors designed to properly maintain and renew facilities in the water supply and sewerage sector at a time when social infrastructure built during and after Japan’s high economic growth from the late 1950s to the early 1970s is rapidly aging. Asset management standards are being embraced by many countries, and the ISO 55001 certification could become a prerequisite for submitting a bid for a project. Meiden Facility Service expects this certification will boost opportunities for the company to win more contracts.

Meiden Facility Service aims to further improve social infrastructure and enhance its business performance in this field. 

ISO 55001

ISO 55001 is an international standard set by the International Organization for Standardization. It encompasses requirements for efficiently and systematically managing social infrastructure facilities, such as water supply and sewerage, roads, bridges and railways, so that the facilities will continue to perform their original functions. The standard also includes management of capital, human resources and information.
