Meiden certified as top-rank “Eruboshi” company based on law promoting women’s advancement

2017-11-28

Meidensha Corporation (Meiden) has been certified as a top-rank “Eruboshi” company by the health, labor and welfare minister for implementing measures to promote women’s advancement in the workplace.

To obtain Eruboshi certification, a company compiles and reports to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare an action plan based on the Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace. The minister certifies a company that has cleared certain requirements and implemented measures to implement this action plan. The certification system has three ranks.

Meiden was recognized to have cleared all five evaluation criteria and received the top-rank certification. With the certification, Meiden will receive additional points in the general evaluation system for bidding for public works projects.

Promoting diversity and women’s participation in the workplace is one of Meiden’s management strategies. Meiden established a diversity promotion office in 2015, implemented a series of new measures and has carried out reforms where necessary. The company is implementing various initiatives for employees – regardless of sex – so they have a good work-life balance, while providing work-style options at various stages of their careers. Meiden aims to create a workplace in which all employees are physically and mentally healthy and can fully apply their abilities.
