Meiden acquires ‘Kurumin’ and ‘Platinum Kurumin’ childcare support company certifications from the Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare

2021-03-25

Meidensha Corporation (Meiden) has been certified as both a “Kurumin” and “Platinum Kurumin” company by the Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare, based on the revised Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children.

The Kurumin certification is given by the Minister to companies for supporting their employees in terms of childrearing, from among those that have formulated action plans for child-rearing employees based on the revised law and met certain standards by achieving the goals stipulated in the plans. The Platinum Kurumin certification is bestowed to firms that excel in providing childcare support programs and chosen among Kurumin-certified companies.

Meiden obtained the Kurumin and Platinum Kurumin certifications dated March 9, 2021, following the December 2016 “Tomonin” mark certification awarded by the Ministry to companies with a workplace environment that ensures a balance of work and nursing care and a top-rank “Eruboshi” certification also by the Ministry in November 2017. The Eruboshi certification is given to companies taking initiatives to facilitate women’s advancement in the workplace.

Meiden’s latest action plan sets such targets as encouraging employees to take paid holidays, rectifying employees’ long working hours as well as supporting male employees to achieve a work–life balance between their jobs and childcare. The Ministry apparently judged that our initiatives and certain results we have achieved merit the certifications.

Meiden continues to make efforts to further improve the workplace environment and foster a better workplace culture so that each of our employees can feel their work is rewarding and maximize their individual abilities.
