Former Meidensha Corporation (Meiden) President Junzo Inamura, who now serves as Meiden senior adviser, has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to the development of Japan’s manufacturing industry. The bestowment was part of the Japanese government’s fall conferment of decorations on November 3, 2021.

Inamura joined Meiden in April 1971 and was appointed president in June 2008. He was instrumental in strengthening Meiden’s core businesses related to water infrastructure and railway systems in addition to overseas enterprises following the financial crisis triggered by the 2008 collapse of Lehman Brothers. He also spearheaded the mass production of components for electric vehicles to solidify Meiden’s business foundation. Inamura’s leadership as president contributed significantly to the company’s recovery from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2013, he became chairman of the Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association and worked diligently to further develop the industry.

Inamura’s comments on the bestowment
I am humbled to receive such a prestigious order. This was a completely unexpected honor. I extend my sincere gratitude to the many people in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the electrical manufacturing industry and the Meiden Group who have given me guidance and support over the years. I feel they deserve this award more than I do. Although I do not know how helpful I can be, I will continue to do my best to contribute to the prosperity of society and the electrical manufacturing industry.
