News Releases 2016Meidensha Completes Acquisition of OHSAS18001 Certification at Four Major Production Facilities in Japan


Meidensha Corporation has completed acquisition of OHSAS 18001 certification at all the four major production facilities in Japan (Numazu Works, Ohta Works, Nagoya Works, and Kofu Meidensha).


OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) is one of the standards under the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), and is an international standard for occupational health and safety that aims to provide safe working environments for employees.


As an enterprise that provides products to support social infrastructure, the Meiden Group believes that in order to create safe products, it is crucial to enhance the health and safety awareness of every single employeeon working environments.


Meidensha’s undertaking to acquire OHSAS 18001 certification commenced in fiscal year 2013. In fiscal year 2014, Meidensha formed Operational Health and Safety Management Department to encourage acquisition of this certification and to strengthen its occupational health and safety management undertaking. This supervisory department conducts repeated training sessions dedicated to raising health and safety awareness and strives to improve working environments, based on the concept of risk assessment.


The certification was first acquired at Ohta Works in October 2015, and then at Numazu Works in December 2015, followed by Nagoya Worksand Kofu Meidensha in January 2016 including all the subsidiary companies on the factory premises. Meiden Singapore Pte. Ltd., a major overseas production site, acquired this certification in fiscal year 2013.


The Meiden Group will continue its efforts in promoting its occupational health and safety management system and providing comfortable and safe working environments to its employees not only in its domestic facilities, but to all the Group’s employeesacross the world.
