2017-06-19
Meidensha Corporation (Meiden) has received an order to provide transformer equipment for nine substations on the Nagasaki Route of the Kyushu Shinkansen Line. The Nagasaki Route, an extended section of the line that will link Hakata and Nagasaki, is scheduled to open in 2022.

Meiden won the JPY2.482 billion contract in an open tendering from the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT), an independent administrative corporation. The nine installations include Omura Rail Yard Substation and Shin-Isahaya Substation.

Meiden has provided transformer equipment for Shinkansen lines across Japan. Equipment the company will provide for the Nagasaki Route includes transformers for feeding systems, gas-insulated switchgears, control boards, AC circuit breakers and surge arresters. Meiden will provide safe, reliable equipment manufactured based on its many years of experience in the industry.

Meiden plans to continue contributing to the safe transportation of passengers by participating in planned projects to extend Shinkansen lines across the nation.

*The contract amount excludes tax.
