Meidensha obtains ‘A’, the highest rating in CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment

2026-06-05

Meidensha Corporation has received an ‘A’, the highest rating in the Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) conducted by CDP, a global non-profit that promotes the disclosure of environmental impact information by corporations and local governments. This is the second time Meidensha has achieved the top rating, following 2025.

SEA comprehensively evaluates corporate supply chain engagement on climate issues based on CDP’s climate change questionnaires, considering governance, business strategy and targets, Scope 3 emissions, and risk management processes. It assesses how corporations work with suppliers across the entire supply chain to address climate change, and it identifies and compares outstanding corporate initiatives.

CDP has given high marks to the Meiden Group’s ongoing engagement, including the assessment and inspection of suppliers and support for improving their capabilities, as well as its efforts to visualize the entire supply chain and establish a robust supplier management system based on its sustainable procurement guidelines.

The Meiden Group is undertaking the following initiatives to promote climate change measures across its entire supply chain:

  • Establishing sustainable procurement guidelines and presenting and applying them to all new business partners to embed environmental, human rights, and other requirements in supplier management.
  • Assessing business partners’ engagement in climate change and environmental management to understand their efforts and identify and inspect high-risk suppliers.
  • Providing ongoing support to suppliers by sharing policies through explanatory meetings on production plans and other occasions, promoting the adoption of best practices in climate change countermeasures based on past examples, and assisting them in obtaining EcoAction 21 certification, an environmental management system.

The Meiden Group is further strengthening company-wide climate measures by integrating Scope 3 emissions reduction targets and risk and opportunity analyses across the entire supply chain with these initiatives.

The Meiden Group aims to achieve carbon neutrality by the end of 2025. It is committed to reducing environmental impacts not only from its own business activities but also across the entire supply chain by setting greenhouse gas reduction targets for the fiscal year ending March 2031, in line with the 1.5°C standard required by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In particular, to reduce Scope 3 emissions, the Group is focusing on partnerships with business partners to promote decarbonization throughout the supply chain.

Furthermore, the Group will pursue both sustainable growth and reduced environmental impact together with its suppliers by promoting initiatives that integrate assessment, dialogue, and support.

The Meiden Group is committed to further strengthening its efforts to reduce environmental impacts across the entire supply chain and help realize a sustainable society.
